Meetings

The annual conference dates coincide with two important meetings for the NSCSW.

Non-members do not need to RSVP to watch the livestreams of these public meetings on the NSCSW YouTube channel.

NSCSW members must RSVP in advance and have their membership verified in order to attend the Zoom calls, or to vote from the conference hubs. All NSCSW members, including retired and student members, are welcome. Members in good standing can vote except those with a limited registration (e.g. temporary registration, restricted to telepractice from outside Nova Scotia, etc.).

Thursday May 23
Special GENERAL MEETING

NSCSW members will be invited to consider, debate, and vote on several motions, which will be distributed to membership in early May. (This meeting is virtual only)

(RSVP link pending)

SATURDAY May 24
Annual General Meeting

The NSCSW annual report will be presented on Saturday morning, shortly before the second day of the conference begins. (Members attending the conference at the regional hubs will be able to watch and vote at those locations.)

Refund policy

If your plans change after you register, and you are no longer able to join us, refunds are available until 7 days before the conference begins (minus Eventbrite’s nonrefundable ticket fees). You can obtain a refund by signing into Eventbrite and cancelling your ticket; contact us ASAP if you need help.

You may also arrange to transfer your conference registration to a friend or colleague via the Eventbrite website, at no additional charge.

Bursaries

Bursary applications are open until May 1, 2024

We are partnering with the Canadian Association of Social Workers to provide a bursary fund to help NSCSW members join the virtual conference session. (Bursaries may not be available for the in-person sessions, but volunteers at those sessions do receive free conference admission.)

We have 20 bursaries to offer; these cover your entire conference registration fee. All NSCSW members are welcome to apply.

We value diversity and intersectionality, and strive to create opportunities for Nova Scotians in groups who have historically faced barriers. Preference for bursary awards was also given to members who disclosed that they hold an identity that belongs to one or more equity seeking groups, particularly those who have faced barriers to educational opportunities.

If you’re an NSCSW member, and receiving a bursary will make the difference in whether you’re able to attend, you should apply.

If you’re selected for this conference bursary, NSCSW will send you information about how to register for free. All bursary recipients are expected to attend online.
