When do I need to register?
If you’re joining in-person please register for the conference before May 10.
Virtual tickets are available until the first day of the conference.
If you’re curious: we need in-person estimates early to confirm our venue bookings and our catering orders. If by May 10 it looks like we won’t have enough attendees at one of the locations to get a good conversation going, we might invite those folks to switch to virtual (and refund the difference in ticket price).
Is the conference accessible?
We hope so! The virtual conference has automatic captions available on demand, and we’ve chosen in-person venues accessible for people using mobility devices. But access and accommodation needs vary — if you need specific accommodations please get in touch with us and let us know what you need as soon as possible. Knowing your needs in advance helps us plan better.
Will it be recorded for me to watch later?
Most of it won’t be. The conference itself is an interactive event and will not be recorded.
There will be some conference preview events on on April 30 and May 10 that we’ll record and publish on our YouTube channel. The special general meeting and annual general meeting will also be recorded and livestreamed.
Do I need to attend both days?
We hope you will! Conference registration includes both days of the event, and you will get the greatest benefit from attending beginning-to-end.
In-person registrants will be given the virtual link as a backup, in case other commitments interrupt your availability.
Can I get a refund if my availability changes?
Refunds of our portion of the conference fee are available if you cancel your ticket until May 16. There will be no refunds after that date.
The Eventbrite ticketing platform charges a booking fee for each ticket; those fees are nonrefundable unless the conference is cancelled.
What do the conference fees cover?
All conference fees contribute to honorariums for our speakers. The fees for in-person participation also covers venue rental, catering, and cost of workshop materials.
Do I need to register separately for the general meetings?
If you are an NSCSW member, please do! Member preregistration is required so that NSCSW staff can verify in advance whether members are eligible to vote on motions. Non-members can register on Eventbrite to receive email reminders with livestream links.
The special general meeting on May 23 will be virtual-only.
The annual general meeting on May 25 will be hybrid; volunteers at the hubs will display a livestream and assist in tallying the votes of conference participants. (the hub locations will not be able to host AGM viewers who do not have a conference ticket)
Do I need to bring anything?
Yourself!
In-person attendees are welcome to bring a reusable mug if you wish to reduce waste. We’ll have light refreshments and workshop materials for you.
Virtual attendees should be prepared with materials to write or draw with. This can be very basic, but if you have art supplies you may feel inspired to use them.
I have a different question!
We love questions! Send a message to nscsw@nscsw.org.
